This morning, the Supreme Court released its ruling on SB 1070, Arizona's anti-immigrant law. By a 5-3 majority the Court ruled that Arizonaâs attempt to take federal law into its own hands is unconstitutional.
However, one part of the law that remains standing is the "show me your papers" provision, which will inevitably lead to racial profiling based on the way Arizonans look and speak.
This ruling underscores the fact that comprehensive immigration reform is still needed. In the days and weeks to come, our movement will continue mobilizing voters and supporters to fight against SB 1070 and other laws like it. We will keep them off the books and work to prevent their implementation on the ground.
